Comments & Thoughts

Firstly I’d like to say a very big well done to the children that took part in this tournament.  The overall winner was chosen on sportsmanship marks awarded in each game, in total there was 20 teams placed into 4 groups of 5, our group fixtures and scores are highlighted above and shows our strengths quite clearly. It seems the only way to win the Corsham Tournament is to not be so dominant and for this reason we never really stood a chance. However, I think we can clearly take a morale victory from the final overall positions shown.

While its always easy to give credit to the goal scorers I believe the results during this tournament would have been different if it wasn’t for a fine individual display in goal by Brandon Clark. This was clearly his day as he managed 3 clean sheets from 4 games, a feat that took him more than 20 games to do so during the last season. Brandon’s display was a real joy to watch and something clearly seems to have clicked into place with him recently, especially around commanding his own area, WELL DONE BRANDON. A fine achievement and clearly Player of the Tournament.

Well done also to Ryan Kibby, showing great versatility in both defence and midfield. It seems that every week you show a clear jump in ability, keep it up Ryan.

To the others, Jack Sheean, nice to have your old head back in this tournament Jack, clearly showing you still know a trick or two.

Vicky Foxwell, well done Vicky, a more level headed few games from you, you’re showing much better awareness lately, keep it up!

Louis Heitzman, you showed this tournament what you can achieve with better concentration levels, another great display but capable of much more.

Charlie Beard, even though I think I’ve confused you slightly over the last few weeks with trying to play different formations and with players in different positions, you handled it brilliantly, showing some great link up with all around you, I think I will call you “ slick “ from now on.

Ashley Siddall, hooray! At long last you showed you have a left foot as well as a right, the way in which you took the winning goal V FC Chippenham B was simply sublime. The movement around a defender and then their keeper was a great move in its self, but to finish with your left foot the way you did was a pure joy to watch.

But remember kids, while we are showing we are a great side, if we want to stay ahead then we will have to work even harder than everyone else. We should all remember that it takes each and everyone of us together to make a team and that without each other, we are nothing.
